At Parke House Nursing Home, we offer a range of Respite Care service options. Respite Care services can be tailored to suit the individual needs of people whose care needs do not require residential admission or long stays in a nursing home.
Our Respite Care services can help individuals remain living in their home communities for as long as possible and provide support for families and other caregivers as required. This can be on an ad hoc or more regular basis, depending on what suits the individual and their family and carers. These services are available twenty four hours a day, seven days a week, subject to availability.
Family carers find the temporary Respite Care options let them look after their own needs in the knowledge that their loved ones’ needs are being met in our Respite Care programme e.g. where a caring spouse has to be admitted to hospital themselves, where family members are going on holidays or simply where carers themselves need a break, periodically or otherwise.
Individuals availing of our Respite Care services can benefit from the change of scene. Respite Care clients have the benefit of access to all of our facilities. In addition to the same comfortable high-quality bedroom and bathroom facilities as our long-term residents, Respite Care clients also have access to our Activities Programme, hairdressing and beauty facilities, café, internet café (free Wi-Fi), religious services, nutrition advice, ophthalmic, dental, speech and language therapy, laundry and housekeeping services. They also are provided with nursing care and medical services in conjunction with a GP. Some Respite Care clients enjoy the opportunity to have greater social interactions and enjoy the companionship of the Home environment and activities programme. Other Respite Care clients prefer to rest and relax in the quiet rooms in the Home and/or their own bedrooms.
Prior to coming for Respite Care our team will carry out an assessment of needs in order to agree a care plan. We will require documentation and information in relation to medical history, current health status and all medications. Respite Care clients who are in receipt of a care package in their community will need to arrange for such care to be in place on their date of discharge from the Home to ensure appropriate continuity of care following a stay in the nursing home. Our clinical staff can liaise with the community care team and family to provide a discharge summary.
Respite Care or short-term stays are available in conjunction with the HSE or on a private basis. We are also approved by a number of private healthcare providers in certain circumstances.
Should you wish to discuss Respite Care options with us we would be delighted to help. Please call the Bed Manager for further information.
